International Operations Report #JW023-DD- Within recents months it has been established that the civilian code-named "Jen-Active" has had contact with numerous individuals at the LaJolla based Wildstorm Productions facility. It has also been established that both Wildstorm Productions and "Jen-Active" have covert agendas that undermine the sanctity and integrity of national security. As such, communications between the two entities is closely monitored. The following transmission between "JenActive" and "writer" Michael Heisler was intercepted and uploaded 07.09.98 at 7:38:33 EST.

<--- UPLINK ESTABLISHED ---> <--- BEGIN TRANSMISSION ---> JA: I heard that there were plans for a Gen13/DV8 crossover later this year. Is there any truth to that? MH: Yes. JA: Kewl! So would a crossover involve Arcudi and the Gen book or only take place in DV8? MH: The crossover is set up in DV8 #24, and runs through #25, GEN13 ANNUAL #2, and concludes in DV8 ANNUAL #2.John Arcudi will write the GEN annual. Though neither of us has started writing his part yet, we've already broken enough of it down that we know how it will go. Regarding crossovers, a lot of time you'll hear that you don't have to read each part, and that's very true with ours. Basically, DV8 #25 and GEN13 ANNUAL #2 are parallel stories, each relating how their respective teams get to their meeting point. At the end of each story they meet, and that leads into DV8 ANNUAL #2. If you're a Gen fan and hate DV8, you won't have to follow any DV8 issues but the conclusion. If you're a Deviant fan and hate the Gen kids, you won't be confused if you skip the Gen annual. If you like both books, you'll have a lot of fun. JA: And Absolom Chang (Grunge's brother) is coming back too, right? MH: Yes, but not until after the crossover. JA: We haven't really seen him in action. What exactly are his powers supposed to be? MH: Sorry...you'll have to wait until he shows them off in print. JA: Well, couldn't I just whip out my WildStorm Sourcebook (You know he's in one right?) and read what his powers are supposed to be? Or are you gonna ignore what it says in there? MH: Why not? Don't we always ignore what's in the sourcebook whenever it's convenient? :) JA: You mentioned before that you had a Threshold storyline for Bootleg but since Bootleg is getting the axe will we see it in DV8? MH: Actually, that story was already rescheduled and will now see print as DV8 #23. In addition, I was scheduled to write another BOOTLEG, with art by Richard Bennett. That is one of the stories being saved for use as a one-shot and will probably see print toward the end of the year or the beginning of 99. JA: Oh, I noticed that in June's "Main Event" you voted for Sublime over Witchblade. Aside from the fact that you're the writer of DV8, why do you think Rachel would win? MH: Because at some point during the fight, Sara would start talking to herself and Rachel would seize the opportunity to cave her head in. JA: So, if you were plotting the fight to be in an actual book, how would it go? MH: Pretty much just as I said. Sublime would probably be looking for some weird mystical artifact that Ivana's sent her after. Witchblade would show up looking for the same thing. There'd be an argument, it would escalate into a fight, Witchblade would attack and Sublime would go intangible to avoid it. Then Sara would start carrying on a conversation with the Witchblade, asking it what was wrong, and Rachel would go diamond-hard and smack her upside the head. End of story. What, I have to make WITCHBLADE readers happy too? JA: Who would you want to do the pencils and inks for the fight? Anybody you wanted, WS or non-WS... MH: Adam Hughes and Mark Farmer. <--- TRANSMISSION TERMINATED---> <--- UPLINK DISABLED --->
